Overview

Overview


  • Overview product of the project, we create a structure to held everything together and keep it industrial and professional look with the use of aluminium profile.





















  • We also include a drawer style to accommodate the electrical component, underneath the project.



  • Drawer being drawn out, it gives a very clean slate look on the overall project. Integrating mechanical and electrical component under a project. 

Modification

  • The initial board design was not very durable as the angle which would cause the plastic material to wear hence it will make create a plastic deformation, will lose it power.



  • This improved version is much more durable as spring was included, there is no way the board will lose it strength.


2nd improvement

  •   The item was the pipe holder, as the overall item is very weak and i require a tight fit on it.



Improved version;
  •  As tight fitting require which would done by press fitting on the hole itself, which would give a stable hold on the pipe.











Design aspect


  • We was inspired by the vibraphone instrument, which have pipes involve. We uses the ball which would hit on the plates and produces tone.



  • Ideation we use see saw mechanism incorporate with cam and follower, Idea was to strike the wooden ball upwards and hit the aluminium plates to produce a certain tone.




  • The pipe which the ball has to travel, and hit onto the plates itself. Total there are 6 of the pipes, which are different in length and plate. 6 pipe which would make 6 different tones.

Mounting solution (Bracket)

We initially having trouble to held our project together,  first we use a standard L bracket mounting which would disrupt our electrical wiring and LED strip, so we came out of a solution which will tackle such issue.

We use a flat plate mount, which would held our profile together neatly and it also give an impressive aesthetic look towards it.

A flat plate bracket to secure the profile together.

Week 3: Sensor and electronics

This week we are trying to add a photo interrupter as our sensor. It will detect every pulse when there is light passing through it, but we found that it is too sensitive for our project hence we are using a mechanical touch sensor we also need to include a type of mounting to hold our sensor in place,
